The US Board on Geographic Names denied my Proposal based on new coordinates which put the feature in a Wilderness Area. January 3, 2017, the WA Board rescinded its approval to denial status.

Friend Raising

Skip Dreps and I are busy spreading the word throughout Puget Sound. We are busy attending meetings, writing emails and awaiting land permission. To me the project is a no-brainer, ie, 2 centuries have passed without a memorial to Lt Peter Puget and his Exploration Party. The time has come and it is on our watch to see that finally something is done to honor these maritime heroes.

We are getting pledges from emails that I have sent out. Right now we would like you to pledge a donation by sending me an email--hirareid@gmail.com   This is just a pledge, nothing will be done until we get land approval, but we would like to build our base of supporters. We want as many people who live/boat in the sound, or history buffs of Captain Vancouver, the HMS Discovery, Peter Puget, Archibald Menzies, or Joseph Whidbey to join us in this venture. It is an historic event and we want you on board.
